"Hello, David, can you tell us how Xnumber 1 was born ?" "Hello, how are you ? Well, it is quite simple. I was already the owner of a company named Horus which I had to sell three year ago following a health problem. I called a few friends of mine who helped me with the selling. In the past I had worked with Hervé BODILIS, HPG, Fabien LAFAIT…Then I stopped being a producer and I thought I would start shooting films instead. I worked for Woodman and Tony Del Duomo as a cameraman. I know how these people make a film - as they are true professionals - and these working experiences have taught me a lot. I asked Wildvideo to promote my films but I wasn't satisfied so François and I decided it was high time to start our own company. Xnumber1 started promoting and distributing my films about a year ago. The producing section was set up about three months ago. 8 people currently work for the company including François and I who are business partners. There is a manager, two sales and marketing persons and three telesales operators. François, who knows very well how to get by when it comes to internet trading, used to sell spare parts for motorcycles. He soon realized that there were many opportunities on the web as far as porn films and sex videos are concerned. The international porn market is growing fast and everyone can take a bite. By that I mean that we are interested in selling my films and exchanging licences. We have already been contacted by Italian, Spanish and German wholesalers." "Why did you choose Marseille as your homebase ?" "Well, I have been living in Marseille for 45 years. There are many advantages when you live near the sea. "We are the owners of a collection of films which amounts to an average of 1,000/2,000. We also hold the licenses which allow us to sell our films abroad. However, even if some of my films required huge sums of money, none of them are entirely shot according to a given script. I've always opted for reality rather than fiction when dealing with porn productions. I like being free when shooting porn and I couldn't bear having to comply with set rules. When directing the cast, I always tell them to act as naturally as possible and to try and forget the set, the cameras, the lights as if they were in a private place. To my mind, this is the key to good quality porn. I want the shooting and the final result to sound as authentic as possible. This comes from my original training as a reporter. I used to work for local TV channels. To go back to the industry, I have always shot amateur videos also known as 'pro-am'. A few years ago, there used to be about 20 new products released on the market each month. Today, there are about 2,000 including various reprints and imports. This accounts for the collapse in the market. As films are forever, the latest ten new products are still on the market month after month. That's basically how it works." "What makes your company so special then ?" "We are mostly interested in finding new girls and casting debutantes if possible local girls.
